How much Corporation Tax will my company pay?
The Corporation Tax rate depends on your company’s taxable profits.
For the financial year beginning 1 April 2026:
19%
Companies with taxable profits of £50,000 or less may qualify for the small profits rate.
25%
Companies with taxable profits above £250,000 generally pay the main rate.
Between £50,000 and £250,000
Marginal Relief may apply, resulting in an effective rate somewhere between the small profits rate and the main rate.
These thresholds can also be affected by factors such as the length of your accounting period and the number of associated companies.
We’ll calculate the actual Corporation Tax liability for your company rather than expecting you to work it out yourself.
What does a Corporation Tax accountant do?
Corporation Tax is charged on the taxable profits of a limited company. Working out those profits isn’t always as simple as looking at the profit shown in your accounts.
We take care of the calculations, tax adjustments and reporting for you.
Our Corporation Tax service can include:
Corporation Tax calculations
We’ll calculate your company’s taxable profits and work out how much Corporation Tax is due.
Company Tax Return
We’ll prepare and submit your CT600 to HMRC and make sure the figures agree with your company’s accounts.
Tax-deductible expenses
We’ll make sure relevant business expenses and allowable deductions are taken into account when calculating your taxable profits.
Capital allowances
Where your company has bought qualifying equipment, machinery or other assets, we’ll consider whether capital allowances are available.
Corporation Tax reliefs
We’ll consider relevant tax reliefs and allowances that may reduce your company’s Corporation Tax liability.
Losses
If your company has made a loss, we’ll explain how it can potentially be used for Corporation Tax purposes and what options are available.
Tax payment deadlines
We’ll tell you how much Corporation Tax you need to pay and when it’s due, so you don’t get caught out by an unexpected HMRC bill.
Corporation Tax isn't just about filing a return
An accountant shouldn’t simply calculate your tax bill once a year and send you an invoice.
We’ll help you understand the tax consequences of decisions you’re making throughout the year.
For example:
Can my company claim this expense?
Should I buy this asset through the company?
How much profit should I leave in the company?
How should I pay myself?
Can the company claim tax relief on this expenditure?
What happens if the company makes a loss?
These questions can affect how much tax your company ultimately pays.
An accountant you can actually get hold of
There’s not much point having an accountant if you can’t get hold of them when you need them.
We’re a small accountancy practice, so you deal with people who know your business rather than being passed between departments.
If you’ve got a question about Corporation Tax, expenses, dividends, buying equipment or something else you’ve been thinking about doing through your company, just ask.
Straightforward advice. Clear explanations. No disappearing accountant.
Already have an accountant?
If you’re unhappy with your current accountant, changing doesn’t have to be difficult.
We can take over your company’s accounting and tax affairs and guide you through the process of changing accountants.
You don’t need to worry about dealing with the technical side of the handover – we’ll tell you what we need and take it from there.

Frequently asked questions
Do all limited companies have to pay Corporation Tax?
No. A company may have no Corporation Tax to pay if it makes a loss or has no taxable profits. However, if HMRC requires the company to file a Company Tax Return, it must still submit one even if there is no Corporation Tax to pay.
Is Corporation Tax the same as tax on company profits?
Broadly, Corporation Tax is charged on a company’s taxable profits, but taxable profit isn’t necessarily the same as the accounting profit shown in the company’s accounts.
Can you prepare my company accounts and Corporation Tax return?
Yes. We can deal with both together, so you don’t have to coordinate separate accountants for your accounts and Corporation Tax.
Can you deal with my personal tax return too?
Yes. If you’re a company director who also needs to complete a Self Assessment tax return, we can deal with your personal tax return alongside your company’s accounts and Corporation Tax.
Can you help reduce my Corporation Tax bill?
We’ll make sure relevant expenses, allowances and tax reliefs are considered when calculating your company’s taxable profits. We can also discuss tax planning where appropriate.
When does my company have to pay Corporation Tax?
For most companies with taxable profits of up to £1.5 million, the payment deadline is 9 months and 1 day after the end of the accounting period.
Can you take over from my existing accountant?
Yes. If you’re considering changing accountants, we’ll guide you through the process and deal with the necessary handover.
